Welcome to the 3rd Workshop on Advanced Numerical Methods for Partial Differential Equation Analysis 2010

The 3rd Workshop on Advanced Methods for Partial Differential Equation Analysis for PhD students and junior scientists is organized by the Euler International Mathematical Institute (St.Petersburg) and the Mathematical Information Technology Department of the University of Jyvaskyla (Finland) in Jyvaskyla on 31th Augurt - 2nd September 2010.

The first SCOMA Workshop on Advanced Computer Simulation Methods for PhD students and junior scientists was organized by the Mathematical Information Technology Department of the University of Jyvaskyla(Finland) during 29 - 30 March 2007.

The second Workshop on Advanced Computer Simulation Methods for PhD students and junior scientists took place in St.Petersburg on 27-29 April 2009.

Aims and Scope

Workshop is intended to expose results of junior researchers (undergraduate and postgraduate students, PhD students, post doctoral researchers) working in mathematics, physics, economy and biology. Workshop is focused on those parts of this very big scientific arias related to quantitative analysis of mathematical models associated with differential and integration equations.

Main topics of the workshop are:

  • mathematical analysis of models based on partial differential equations, approximation, asymptotic analysis and a priory error estimates;

  • a posteriori error estimation, error indicators and adaptivity;

  • new mathematical models in applied science and engineering.

    The program will include 20 minutes presentations (15 min talk and 5 min discussion) of young scientists and two 50 min lectures of invited keynote speakers that will overview the state of the art and open problems in actual rapidly developing fields of the modern applied analysis.

    Alos an open round table discussion is planned. Within it's framework new problems, trends and advances in numerical analysis of PDE's will be discussed.
