This IdeaBank of CSCL has been created as a course assignment of CSCL-course, Spring 2004. Purpose of this web site is to offer information about Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning (CSCL).

CSCL is probably the fastest growing area of research in the field of computer-aided education. According to Barbara Wasson (1998), "Computer supported collaborative learning (CSCL) is an emerging paradigm (Koschmann, 1996) for research in educational technology that focuses on the use of information and communications technology (ICT) as a mediational tool within collaborative methods (e.g peer learning and tutoring, reciprocal teaching, project- or problem-based learning, simulations, games) of learning". One might find also other definitions for CSCL from these web pages.

CSCL is related to or based on numerous theories. Most of those theories are introdused in this IdeaBank. There are also numerous tools designed to support such a mode of learning available; each promising the same benefits whilst using the available technology in very different ways. Some tools, books, papers, videos and slides are presented.

There are many researchers, institutions and research groups involved and they are sharing their knowledge in different conferences, workshops, etc. This research point of view is also reported.
