10TH FINNISH MECHANICS DAYS

Jyväskylä, December 3-4, 2009

10th Finnish Mechanics Days will be held in the University of Jyväskylä on December 3-4, 2009. It is organized by the University of Jyväskylä, Department of Mathematical Information Technology in association with the Scoma Center and Sulatis – Finnish Computational Science Academy. Finnish Mechanics Days has been organized since 1982 in every third year. The meaning of the event is to gather together researchers, designers and teachers that use mechanics, strength of materials and mathematical problems related to these branches in their work.

Themes for the Mechanics Days are theoretical, computational and experimental mechanics of solids and fluids. Topics include fluid dynamics, fluid-structure interaction, rotor dynamics, multibody dynamics, fracture mechanics, static and dynamic analysis of load-bearing structures, optimizing structures, optimal control of dynamic systems, numerical analysis, industrial and medical applications of mechanics, etc.

Program of the event consists of called main presentations and parallel sessions. Main presentations last 45 minutes and other presentation 20 minutes. Language of the presentations can be Finnish or English. Parallel sessions will be held in three or four auditorium. If presentations enter amply, part of them may be presented in special poster session.
